K1M -> 0%
C1M -> 5%
K1W -> 13%
C1W -> 20%
To create this national ranking, a point system was designed. In each race round, every athlete earns a number of points.
These points are calculated based on the difference between their time and the "base time."
This base time is determined by considering the 10 best scratch times achieved by athletes in that competition.
The "Scratch Time" is the time achieved after applying the category bonus:
K1M -> 0%
C1M -> 5%
K1W -> 13%
C1W -> 20%
We take the 10 best scratch times from the competition and compute a fictitious base time for each one, based on the athlete’s "theoretical value."
The athlete's "value" is the average of their 4 best scores from the past two years.
Fictitious time = (1000 × Scratch Time) / (Athlete’s Value + 1000)
If an athlete has an average of 0 points, their fictitious time equals their scratch time.
From the top 10 scratch times, we then remove the 2 athletes whose fictitious times deviate the most from the average of the 10 fictitious times.
We then take the average of the remaining 8 athletes' fictitious times to get the base time — the best possible theoretical time.
We can then calculate the “raw points”:
Raw points = 1000 × (Scratch Time - Base Time) / Base Time
The farther from the base time, the higher the score.
A phase penalty is then added: for qualification phases, 10 points are added.
This gives the athlete’s final score.
The ranking below is therefore the ranking of each athlete's "value", which takes into account their 4 best scores obtained over the past 2 years.
